Hi my name is Rivka. I am a qualified high school teacher specialising in History. I have always loved cooking and baking and I come from a family of excellent cooks. As a teenager I had an idea of setting up a kosher restaurant in one of the main shopping centres in London near the Jewish community, but then my love for teaching took precedent.
Whenever I have a moment I find myself in the kitchen cooking or baking something. I will often entertain 20-30 people over the weekends when I try out new recipes. It has become a Saturday morning tradition to go straight to the recipe sections of the Saturday papers before reading the actual news. My family are on constant diets so my friends and colleagues have become my tasters and best critics, they actually haven’t been given much choice in the matter (and they don’t put up much of a fight either!).
Now you are probably wondering why I created this blog. I decided to set myself a challenge of making a new bread every week, learning new recipes and techniques to enhance my knowledge of bread making as one day I would like to develop this notion further.
After discussing my challenge idea with a few family members and friends ‘TweetMyWheat’ was born, the name is purely thanks to my genius grandfather! And when best to start this challenge if not after Pesach ( Passover), when for 8 days all you can think about is bread!
